The European Chamber of Commerce (Eurochem) in Nigeria has received a three years grant of €300,000 from the European Union. This financing is aimed at supporting the institution development in Nigeria. Precisely, the major purpose of the funds is to strengthen its secretariat, expand its advocacy, and improve external engagement for its members.
The Eurochem Nigeria represents all the European businesses currently operating in Nigeria. The organization did it 25th anniversary, called Eurocham’s 25th Annual Stakeholders Conference, on Thursday, 30th of January, 2025, in Lagos Nigeria.
According to EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, the EU’s €300,000 finance would encourage trade and investment, benefiting both European and Nigerian economies, and strengthening the EU's role as a key partner for Nigeria.
The grant is part of the EU Global Gateway Strategy, which focuses on improving infrastructure in Nigeria and other African countries. Notably, the EU Global Strategy has invested/funds many projects in Nigeria, including “Omi Eko Water Transport initiative”, programs for enhancing digital skills, and installation of 90,000 km of fibre optic cables.
All these EU Global Gateway Strategy’s projects are aimed at improving sectors like transportation, education, and connectivity in Nigeria and Africa at large. The efforts continue to contribute to economic growth and providing better access to modern infrastructure and digital resources in Africa regions.
