Deleting Moniepoint POS Transaction History

First of all, you need to understand that it is not possible to delete POS transaction history in Nigeria. This is because there are stringent financial regulations in place that prevent it and also, it’s meant for digital record-keeping standards, all imposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Financial institutions and fintech companies operating POS systems are required to maintain transaction records for audit, security, and compliance purposes. These records serve as proof of financial activities that ensure transparency and accountability in the banking sector.

So, it’s not only Moniepoint that forbids deleting transactions history, other banks (both digital and traditional banks) are also not allowed to delete transactions history for customers even if the request.

Do you even know that these transactions history data in question are usually stored on secure, cloud-based servers managed by the financial institutions? This makes it extremely difficult for individual users or merchants to alter or delete the records unless it’s done by the financial institution who has backend access to the server.

This ensures that transactions can be traced in case of disputes, fraud investigations, or regulatory audits using transaction ID and session ID available in the transaction receipt.

Moreover, POS transactions are integrated into Nigeria’s banking system, which operates on a framework designed to prevent financial crimes such as money laundering and fraud. So, deleting the transaction history would compromise the system and create loopholes for illegal activities.

Regulatory bodies like the CBN, the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Nigeria inter bank transfer system schemes (NIBSS), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) rely on these records to track financial flows and detect suspicious transactions.

Additionally, customers and businesses depend on transaction history for financial reconciliation, tax reporting, and dispute resolution. Because of these factors, POS transaction history remains permanent, ensuring financial integrity and consumer protection in Nigeria’s digital economy.

As of 2025, there’s no way to delete Moniepoint POS transaction history.
