Your old Live Broadcasts are about to be deleted on Facebook. New live broadcast is no exception as well. Previously, these live broadcasts were stored indefinitely on the platform. But the shocking aspect of it is that the change goes into effect on Wednesday, 19th, 2025.
In a latest development on Facebook, live videos will only be stored on the social platform for 30 days and live broadcasts older than 30 days will also be removed. After these live videos are removed, they’ll then be automatically deleted after 90 days.
However, Facebook promises to notifications users via email or the app, giving them 90 days to download or transfer their video contents before it get deleted permanently. The platform also said it’s introducing new tools to help users easily download their previous live videos.
The fun part of it is that you have the options to choose where to download the live videos. In other words, you can download the videos to your device, transfer them to your cloud storage, or convert then into a new reel on your page.
Facebook says users can delay the deletion of their old live videos for six months if they need more time to download them. After that, if no choice is made, the videos will be deleted permanently and can’t be accessed.
You also have the option to download the live videos in bulk. To do that, simply click on “Download Live Videos” on the 90-days notification sent to you. You can also select “Transfer Live Videos” to transfer your live broadcasts to supported cloud storage like Google Drive and Dropbox.
According to TechCrunch, “Facebook is making the change to further push people to convert their live video contents into reels.” The platform notes that users have the option to convert some of their favorite moments from their live broadcasts into reels in order to keep them on their page indefinitely.
